Tune Free

Tune Free

When a good digital MP3 player will provide us with access to amazing music tune free, we probably know that all music listeners also care about the mp3 accessories. They especially love any accessory which will allow them to enjoy their favorite music more often. And that’s where Tune Free comes into the picture.

A Tune Free is a convenient audio FM transmitter that works with most leading digital MP3 players on the market. Now we are probably wondering what an audio FM transmitter does. Basically, it is an easy way for us to play our MP3s through your car streo. That way we do not have to worry about mounting  speakers our player in the car nor do we have to spend the money to have a built in player tune free installed. It is a fast and easy way to get the downloadble music we want in the way that we want it.

Tune Free works in the easiest way possible and bypasses the problems associated with most of the other car kits on the market.  Attached to the unit is a standard headphone jacket which we plug into our MP3 music player. Once we have got the system attached we need to turn on our car stereo.

Scroll through the channels until we find one with no programming. Now tune the Tune Free to the same channel. Basically, the Tune Free uses the existing radio channel to broadcast our music back to us through our car stereo.

One of the benefits of Tune Free is that it can work with almost any MP3 player car in almost any vehicle. Other car kits have drawbacks that limit their use. Some require the use of a cassette player which has not been a standard feature on any car in years.

Others need a lighter outlet to power them and those are car features not found very often any more. Overall, Tune Free bypasses all of these problems by working with a feature that is standard on almost every single portable MP3 player headphone jacks and by being powered with batteries not the vehicle itself.

A few other benefits are also available. The MP3 players work well with a variety of the most popular devices, including Ipods, the Zune and plus the price is very reasonable. We can purchase the Tune Free for under $20 which is a pretty great deal.

While there are plenty of excellent reasons to choose Tune Free, the product does have a couple of drawbacks. For one, they are subject to the same weaknesses as similar audio FM transmitters.

Finding an available channel can be difficult in some places, plus they can be easily interrupted by other radio signals. Over long trips, we will need to change the channels frequently as we enter different areas covered by different radio stations and with different open channels. Also, the music tune free quality tends to be weaker through this method.

Product Review

Pros:

Sound quality tune free is excellent, as good as any nearby FM station. Coiled cord is a nice touch. There are 14 frequencies to select from 7 at the low end of the FM band and 7 at the top of the band. The super bright blue LED leaves no doubt when the unit is turned on.

If we forget to turn tune free off, we must be blind. Assuming you do not accidentally leave it turned on, the battery life seems very good. A week or two of use with alkaline AAA batteries seems typical.

Cons:

The performance tune free will almost certainly deteriorate in heavily congested urban areas. Based on comments from users of other brands of FM transmitters, this seems to be a universal problem. Fact is, FM radio in general is not reliable in such an environment due to multipath interference.

When traveling, it may be necessary to change frequencies occasionally and that is not to be attempted with this tune free unit while driving. It has three switches on one side and a single switch on the other side that require a pencil point or tooth pick to change them.  Although the super bright blue LED looks cool  and serves as a good reminder to turn the unit off, but it can be distracting at night.

Summary:

Some people may prefer a tune free unit that plugs into a 12v cigarette lighter jack for power, but that was not a good option. If we commute in a large city, this FM transmitter may not be a good solution. But if we do not venture into the concrete jungle, we will likely be very happy with it. Spend a little time finding a frequency that is truly vacant along the entire length of our daily commute, and we will get solid performance.
